PORTFOLIO · BEFORE Where they started.
These websites did not just look dated. They failed at the basics that search engines and phones depend on: titles and descriptions that say nothing, main headings that are empty or missing, structured data that is absent or wrong, and layouts that fall apart on a phone. Each one is shown as it really was.
Screenshots of the original sites, taken September 26, 2026. The search and schema checks come from each original page's own code. Tap any screenshot to see the whole page.
Church website · Luckey, Ohio Salem Grace United Evangelical Lutheran Church
Built from a template and never finished: it tells search engines the wrong phone number and falls apart on a phone.
The church's Wix Studio site at pcnettechs.wixstudio.com/salemgrace-a, loaded live in September 2026.
Before Search & schema
- ✕Web address
- A free Wix address (pcnettechs.wixstudio.com/salemgrace-a), not the church's own domain, with a “Built on Wix Studio” advertisement across the top of every page.
- ✕Structured data (schema)
- Wix's automatic business data gives search engines the phone number 419-833-2146, which appears nowhere on the page. It is typed as a generic LocalBusiness, not a church, and has no service times.
- ✕Main heading (H1)
- None. All 33 headings are H2s, down to every staff and council member's name.
- ✕Meta description
- The church's name again, word for word the same as the title.
- !Page title
- Just the name. No Luckey, no Sunday service, nothing a family looking for a church would search for.
- ✕Social preview (Open Graph)
- No preview image, and shared links name the site “Salem Grace_old”, the builder's internal project name.
- ✕Icon in the browser tab
- The Wix logo, not the church's.
Design & usability
- On a phone the desktop layout is simply shrunk: 48 of the page's 62 blocks of text are smaller than 10 pixels, the smallest about 4, and letters break apart (“S unday”, “She rry Y aple”).
- The church's name runs off the phone screen, underneath the menu button.
- The phone numbers are tap targets about 7 pixels tall on a phone, far below the 24-pixel minimum.
- Two of the five menu items, Community/Affiliations and Consolidation, lead to empty sections.
- The pastor's card shows a stock photograph, not the pastor.
- About 2.1 MB to show one page of text and six photos.
Restaurant website · Toledo, Ohio Berger's Bar & Grill
A restaurant site without a readable menu, a tappable phone number or a single fact search engines can use.
bergersbarandgrill.com as archived in January 2025 (Wayback Machine). On September 26, 2026 the site did not respond at all.
Before Search & schema
- ✕Mobile
- No mobile viewport tag. Phones draw the 980-pixel desktop page at 40%, so its 12-pixel text shows at under 5 pixels, with the bottom half of the screen empty black.
- ✕Structured data (schema)
- The home page is marked up as a blog and a blog post. There is no restaurant data: no address, hours, phone number or menu for search engines.
- ✕Main heading (H1)
- The logo link, with no text in it. The real headline is an H2 that only says “Welcome to the Berger's Bar and Grill Website”.
- !Page title
- “Bergers Bar and Grill - Home”. No apostrophe, no Toledo, no burgers.
- !Meta description
- The same description on every page, beside a keyword-stuffed meta keywords tag that search engines have ignored for years.
- ✕Canonical address
- None.
- ✕Social preview (Open Graph)
- None. A shared link shows no title, description or image.
Design & usability
- The phone number is plain text: nothing to tap to call.
- The menu is a two-page PDF download, not a page, and awkward to read on a phone.
- “Click here” is the only text on the one link to the Toledo Blade review, which points to an old http:// mobile address.
- Much of the text is 12 pixels, white on a dark chalkboard texture.
- An off-the-shelf Joomla template (j51_motion) with the restaurant's name dropped into it.
Voice and branding studio website · Findlay, Ohio Golden Pear Voice and Image
A studio that sells sound and image, with a home page that leans on a Facebook widget and gives search engines no data at all.
goldenpearvoiceandimage.com, loaded live in September 2026.
Before Search & schema
- ✕Structured data (schema)
- None. The address, phone number, hours and services are on the page as plain text only; no search engine can read them as data, so no rich result or knowledge panel.
- ✕Image descriptions
- 9 of the 21 images on the page have no alt text, including one of the two “Happy Clients” logos and the community photos.
- ✕Phone number
- 419-672-1759 is plain text in the footer. On a phone there is nothing to tap to call a business whose product is what callers hear.
- !Page title
- “HOME | Golden Pear Voice and Image in Findlay, OH”: the word HOME wastes the front of the title, where the services belong.
- !Third-party content
- The middle of the home page is a rented Facebook widget (Elfsight): posts appear unedited, and one shows only “media1.giphy.com” as its caption. If the widget's subscription lapses, that section goes blank.
- !Hidden content
- An “On-Hold for Halloween!” section is switched off with display:none but still sits in the page code, heading, text and YouTube link included: search engines read it, visitors never see it.
Design & usability
- The main navigation is six coloured squares of image text with no readable labels; only the footer repeats the menu as text.
- On a phone the home page is 7,118 pixels long, most of it the Facebook feed.
- The three services get one short paragraph each; everything else on the home page is community news.
- A muted video plays automatically in the header on every visit.
- The “Happy Clients” section shows two logos.
- About 2.2 MB for the home page.
- The footer credits another web design firm.
IT company website · Ohio PC NET TECHS
A company that sells technology, with a website search engines could barely read.
pc-net-techs.com as it stood from 2023 until June 2026 (Wayback Machine capture of June 2025).
Before Search & schema
- ✕Page title
- “PC NET TECHS” and nothing else: no service, no city, no state. Nothing anyone searching for IT help would type.
- ✕Meta description
- None. Google has to make up the text under the link.
- ✕Main heading (H1)
- There is one, and it is empty.
- ✕Structured data (schema)
- None at all. No business name, address, phone number, hours or service area that search engines can read as data.
- ✕Canonical address
- None, so search engines must guess which address is the real page.
- ✕Social preview (Open Graph)
- None. A shared link shows no title, description or image.
- ✕Image descriptions
- 5 of the 11 images have no alt text, including both logos.
Design & usability
- On a phone the page is 480 pixels wide on a 390-pixel screen, so it slides sideways and the service cards run off the edge.
- It is 10,662 pixels long on a phone: one endless column.
- On a computer, seven service cards cut off their own text inside boxes 248 pixels tall that have to be scrolled separately.
- A typo in the very first card: “switchs”.
- About 1.7 MB for a single page.
